Movie Review: The Hours (2002)

In 2019 I found some old Word documents with movie reviews I wrote back before I had a blog. I’m posting each review backdated to the day I wrote it.

TitleThe Hours
Release Date: December 25, 2002
Director: Stephen Daldry
Production Company: Scott Rudin Productions
Summary/Review:

I read this book when it first came out and liked it, so I almost boycotted the movie when I found out that Nicole Kidman plays Virginia Woolf.  Luckily I saw it, and despite the oppressive Phillip Glass soundtrack and the fact that it is VERY depressing, it is a good movie.  Even Kidman does a decent job in the scene at the train station.  But she can’t hold a candle to Meryl Streep who is stunning her capacity to express hidden emotions.  It’s a good book to movie experience.  I still need to read more by the actual Virginia Woolf.
