Movie Review: The Big Lebowski (1998)

In 2019 I found some old Word documents with movie reviews I wrote back before I had a blog. I’m posting each review backdated to the day I wrote it.

Title: The Big Lebowski
Release Date: March 6, 1998
Director: Joel Coen
Production Company: Working Title Films
Summary/Review:

A Coen Brothers movie with the usual great scripted dialogue and incredibly unusual situations for the characters. It has just enough randomness to make me have belly laughs. Not quite Marx Brothers anarchic, but close. A lot of the actors make a whole lot out of very little screen time. I especially liked Sam Elliot as the cowboy narrarator who really serves no purpose in the film but to be there and drink sarspirilla. Also, any movie with the line “I hate the @#$% Eagles!” gets points in my book.

Rating: ***1/2
