I got to see the Mets for the first time this season tonight as the game was televised on local broadcasts acceptable to MLB.TV (albeit shown on the Cardinals’ network). They look good. They’re hitting well, the pitching is stellar, Orlando Hernandez is doing both! They look a lot like last year’s Mets who were pretty darn good. And now they’ve got a year of good experience under there belt. So what was I worried about? Or maybe being 2-0 against the defending World Series Champions has gone to my head. Greg at Faith and Fear in Flushing advises us that It’s Best Not To Think About It when considering the Mets playing this kind of baseball when it counted more back in October. And I’m not. I’m firmly focused on 2007. And I’m excited.
Players of the game (I award up to ten points, maximum of 6 points to one player, distributed among the Mets players who had the biggest impact in the game).
- Beltran 0.50
- Delgado 1
- Heilman 1
- O Hernandez 4
- Reyes 2
- Wright 1.5
