Beer: Flannel Friday
Brewer: Harpoon Brewery
Source: 12 oz. bottle
Rating: ** (6.3 of 10)
Comments: Another autumnal beer, amber in color without much head or carbonation. The beer offers floral and caramel notes and tastes mildly hoppy with some sweet citrus. Seems like an okay beer for the season, but it doesn’t excite me much.

Beer: Toaster Pastry India-Style Red Ale
Brewer: 21st Ammendment Brewery
Rating: **** ( 8.0 of 10)
Comments: Beer pours with a gorgeous amber color, but no much head or carbornation. Fruit and malts are apparent in the nose. The taste is a balance of sweet and bitter with wood, nut, and strawberry favors. Nicely done and palatable. Not overly bitter as the “India-style” usually implies.
Beer: Big Red Mitch
Brewer: Jack’s Abby Brewing
Rating: ** (6.9 of 10)
Comments: A different beer, a dark red almost blackish with a bitter grapefruit scent and aroma but balanced with an earthy maltiness. There’s no lace and medium mouthfeel. It’s different, in a good way.

Beer: Boont Amber Ale
Brewer: Anderson Valley Brewing Company
Source: 12 oz can
Rating: (7.5 of 10)
Appropriately amber colored, this is an effervescent beer with a big, bubbly head that disspates quickly. The aroma is grassy and rye bread, with a balance of caramel and citrus in the flavor, and a lingering hop bitterness. Light lacing on the glass. Good solid beer.
Beer: Hoosac Tunnel Amber
Brewer: Berkshire Brewing Company
Rating: *** (7.1 of 10)
This amber ale is a comforting cloudy copper brown. The aromas include a biscuit scent with hints of fruit. The taste is bready with a peppery finish and a sweet caramel aftertaste. It’s a well-balanced brew that fills the mouth with flavor. My kind of beer.
Beer: Boston 375 Colonial Ale
Brewer: Boston Beer Company
Rating: *** (7.5 of 10)
Comments: On my recent tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery, I picked up a growler of this beer not widely available elsewhere. It is a cloudy, dark brown beer with a big, bubbly head. It has a sweet yeasty aroma with maybe a hint of orange. The flavor is of sweet cream and a nutty smoked taste with a medium mouthful. The head dissipates quickly and leaves behind no lacing. This is a tasty beer and one that does Boston proud.
Beer: LP India Pale Lager
Brewer: Notch Brewing Company
Rating: *** (7 of 10)
Comments: An amber beer that has a foamy head and light carbonation, LP offers a strong floral aroma with hints of apricot and grapefruit. The flavor is a pleasant mix of bitter and fruity. Notch continues to impress with their well-balanced offerings.
Beer: Cambridge Amber
Brewer: Cambridge Brewing Company
Rating: *** (7.0 of 10)
Comments: This beer features a dark copper/brown color with a thin head. The scent is faint and grainy while the taste is nutty and yeasty with a clean finish. Sporadic lacing covers the inside of the glass. This is an enjoyable local brew.
