Beer Review: Cisco Summer of Lager

Beer: Summer of Lager

Comments:
Poured from a can, Summer of Lager grows a foamy head with lots of carbonation bubbling through the golden liquid. The scent is of fresh-cut grass, and the taste follows the nose with a grassy flavor followed by spicy hops and a hint of appe. Tufts of lace cling to the glass and finger-width of head still persists after settling in the glass. It’s a nice, refreshing beer and good for a warm day.

Beer Review: Cambridge Brewing Bo-Steam-Ian Lager

Beer: Bo-Steam-ian Lager

Comments: An interesting blend of beers bringing together the Czech pilsner with the California-style steam beer.  The beer has a rich golden color with a bit of haziness, but not much head. The aroma is an earthy bread crust.  The taste is reminiscent of sweet pasty but with a spicy, fruity tang. There’s just enough hops bitterness for balance, but not enough to overwhelm the beer. The beer has a medium mouthfeel and leaves behind a light lacing.  This is a well-crafted and tasty experiment.

Comments: This is a summertime beer that looks like golden sunshine with a bit of haze and smells of fresh-cut grass.  The taste is hop bitterness moderated with a little pepper spice.  The head deflated quickly and the beer has a thin mouthfeel.  This beer is bit too much on the bitter side for my taste but is a good summertime beer.

Curiously, I’ve reviewed this beer before from a bottle and liked it more then.
