Rating: **** (8.4 of 10)
Comments: Beer pours out golden with much effervesence and a thick head. The scent is caramel with a warm, yeasty malt flavor. The head is persistent while drinking and offers a light mouthfeel. A nice example of the style.

Beer Review: Mystic Table Beer
Beer: Table Beer
Brewer: Mystic Brewery

Rating: ** (6.7 of 10)
Comments: A hazy golden brew with a bread crust aroma and a mild banana flavor. It’s light, refreshing, and low alcohol and drinkable if not very exciting. Seems like a good summer beer for people who do not like bold beer flavors.

Beer Review: Peak Organic Citrus Saison
Beer: Citrus Saison
Brewer: Peak Organic Brewing Company
Source: 12 oz. bottle
Rating: ** (6.8 of 10)
Comments: Getting ready for spring with this shandy-esque beer from Peak Organic. The beer is a very light golden/straw color with LOTS of carbonation and a thick head. The aroma is strong on lemon with hints of wheat. Flavor is sour lemon with a bit of grapefruit but no too bitter. The beer has a light mouthfeel, and settles down to a thing head with spotty lacing. A unique flavor and change of pace for me.

Comments: This feels like a fancy beer with a golden orange glow and a thin head. The aroma was sweet and spicy with some fruit, perhaps apricots? The taste is dominated by bitter hops with a clean citrus finish. It’s apparent from the complex flavors that this is a well-crafted beer, although I found it too bitter for my taste.
Beer Review: Mystic Chardonnay Barrel Fermented Saison
Beer: Chardonnay Barrel Fermented Saison
Brewer: Mystic Brewery
Source: 22 oz bottle
Rating: *** (7.2 of 10)
Comments: A limited edition farmhouse ale aged in wooden barrels once used for chardonnay from Chelsea, what could go wrong. The beer sparkles like champagne and has the smell of apples. The taste is crisp with a white wine / sparkling cider flavor. It leaves a lot of lace behind on the glass. If you want a fancy beer for a special occasion, this may be a good choice.

Comments: This winter beer is a variation on the Mystic Saison fermented at a lower temperature. It’s a fruity, effervescent beer with floral notes and hints of spice. I’ll have to give the original saison a try.

Beer Review: Notch Saison
Beer: Notch Saison
Brewer: Notch Brewing
Source: 22 oz. bottle, poured in pint glass
Rating: **(6.8 of 10)
Comments: Inspired by a style of beer once enjoyed by farm laborers, this beer is refreshing and goes down almost too easily on a beastly hot summer evening. The beer is a hazy, sunny orange with a slightly floral, hoppy aroma. The taste is simple and clean, a little spice and a little bubblegum but nothing too challenging for these temperatures. Definitely a great summer beer and a good reward for a hoeing a field.
