Beer Review: Harpoon Cambridge Uncommon

Beer: Cambridge Uncommon (100 Barrel Series, session #51)
Brewer: Harpoon Brewery
Source: Draft
Rating: *** (7.8 of 10)
Comments:  These limited edition Harpoon beers are often brilliant, I wish they were around longer.  Batch 51’s official description: “This hybrid style balances IPA aromatics with a classic Pilsner base. Czech tradition meets American hops.” The beer is golden and bubbly with a grassy aroma, and a grainy orange flavor balanced with bitter.  I like it.  Get it while it lasts.

Beer Review: CBC Spring Training IPA

Beer:  Spring Training IPA
Brewer: Cambridge Brewing Company
Source: Draft
Rating:  ** (6.9 of 10)
Comments: A hazy, golden-colored beer is defined by lots of carbonation and a thick, big-bubbled head.  There’s a grassy bitter aroma and a taste of strong floral hops.  Even after quaffing for a while, the head is still going strong leaving behind some lacing.  Play ball!

Beer Review: Wormtown Freakin’ Unbelievable IPA

Beer: Freakin’ Unbelievable IPA
Brewer: Wormtown Brewing Co.

Rating: ** (6/7 of 10)

Comments: Kudos to the marketing geniuses at this Worcester, MA brewery for coming up with an irresistible name.  The beer came in a tulip style glass which displayed it’s dark amber color and plentiful carbonation.  The scent was flowery and the taste was a good balance of bitter hops and a sweet citrus aftertaste.  An interesting beer that is not like other IPA’s I’ve sampled.  I’d like to try more beers from this brewery.
