Not much information about this Song of the Week by way of Said the Gramophone, the track is “Ten Cuidado (Jock Club Remix)” by Pelada, but it’s got a good beat and you can dance to it. The song is available to download for free from the link below.
Every year the editor of the excellent MP3 blog Said the Gramophone publishes a list of 100 Best Songs of the Year. The list is diverse, and not every song is going to resonate with everyone, but I always discover something new I missed over the course of the year.
One of the songs from this year’s list is “Malukayi” by Mbonwana Star (feat. Konono No.1). The seven-piece band is from the Democratic Republic of Congo and they combine percussion with chant-like vocals and electronic sounds. It’s pretty brilliant.
My own list of favorite songs of the year is coming soon. If there’s a song you think should be on the best of 2015 list let me know in the comments!
I dug this post out of my file of half-written drafts, so consider this the Song of the Week (delayed). of Montreal is one of those bands like I’m From Barcelona and Eddie from Ohio that lie about where they’re from as they’re actually from Athens, GA. “Triumph of Disintegration” is reminiscent of 60’s psychedelia with a little britpop mixed in. I learned about it via Said the Gramophone.
You can listen to “Triumph of Disintegration” and the rest of of Montreal’s Lousy with Syvianbriar below
